Happy Halloween!
Monday, October 31, 2005

How nice of me to finally post about Halloween at like, a quarter to 8 at night. The damn holiday is over and now I get to posting about it. I really must get my act together!!

Anyway - BOO! to all you ghosts and goblins out there. Hope you all got lots of candy!

To my SP and anyone who actually reads this blog!
Thursday, October 27, 2005

Hey SP - yes! I did receive your wonderful gift - I like it VERY MUCH!! THANK YOU!! you are the best! I will post details and pics very soon!!

I haven't been posting for the past few days since I have been fighting a bad cold and I just don't feel much like typing, etc. I actully stayed home from work today and maybe tomorrow too, we'll see. I'm just not myself right now...

Again, many apologies for being such a drag - hopefully by the weekend I will be back on my feet and knitting again - gee, I don't really even feel like knitting... I must be sick - lol....

Don't have much to say right now - just couldn't resist this kitten w/yarn photo that showed up in my email yesterday. Enjoy!

Center-Pull Heaven
Tuesday, October 18, 2005

Woo Hoo! Thank you Charisse! Your suggestion was just what I needed. I wound two successful center-pull balls by myself (by hand) - then I knit with them both, double-stranded - no problems! Just what I wanted! Yippee!

Here is the link to the directions I used, in case anyone else encounters this problem: How To Wind a Center-Pull Ball

Another new skill. Cool. :)

My Kingdom for a swift....
Monday, October 17, 2005

I need a swift and a ball winder and I need them now!!! I was going to put them on a Christmas list due to the cost of each item (I was also hoping to add a yarn meter in there too) but I don't know if I can wait anymore. I'm trying....
Here's the problem, I am knitting a handbag to be felted. It requires knitting with two strands of yarn at once. For the main color of the bag, I need/have two hanks so, no problem. However, for the contrasting colors, I have just one hank since only a few rows of striping are needed.
How do I knit with two strands of yarn from one hank? In the past I have literally sat with a yard stick and measured out half the length of the skein and rolled two equal balls of yarn. But I really don't want to do that since sometimes I measure wrong and get two uneven balls. Not the end of the world, but a long and tiring process nonetheless. A swift and ball winder would give me a center-pull ball in minutes and I could knit double-stranded with a strand from the inside and a strand from the outside.

Has anyone encountered this before? Anybody have helpful hints for dealing with this problem without a swift? I am looking at rigging something up so I can knit from both ends of the hank at one time - but I see many knots (and frustration) in my future.

Why doesn't A.C. Moore sell this stuff...?!!??

Scarf from hell redeems itself
Sunday, October 16, 2005

This was all at once the simplest and toughest scarf to knit. Simple beacuse it was only garter, but tough because the yarn was so slippery, it was difficult to work with. I cursed all the way through it.
Then a funny thing happened, I finished it - and put it on - it drapes so nicely!! I enjoyed it so much, I swear I actually thought about buying more of the same yarn in a different color to do it again. LOL! I didn't. But I thought about it. Which is just insane considering how I hated this yarn while I was knitting with it.

But Dani told me everything would work out, and, well, she was right. Did everyone hear me? Dani was right! OK - now everyone knows and I can go back to my little knitting corner and continue fighting with working on other UFOs that need my attention. :)

Oops, I Did It Again :)

ANOTHER new blog skin - personally, I like this one much better than the yellow sunflower one. It was cool, but too bright - even for me, and that's saying something - LOL. This pink one is soft and pretty and girly and that's the mood I'm in now, so I'm really liking it.
It was a premade skin but I had a lot of adjusting to do, which took my whole morning. This will be the last skin here for a while - my knitting is backing up - can't have THAT!

Now off to knit - and take pictures of the knitting!!!

Hey SP!

Thanks for the update! (Can't Wait!) Hope your SP is treating YOU good too!

This 'n That 'n SnB

Sent my first SP6 gift out this past weekend - hope it doesn't take too long to get where it's going and that my pal likes what I sent. Our knitting tastes are quite different so I really tried to get something she would appreciate. Fingers crossed...

I have so many pics to post - correct that - so many pics to TAKE, then post. I have been so lax lately. I'd blame it on the rain, but in truth, I fell behind way before this unending rain started.

But all is not tense hope and delays - Thursday is SnB!!! I so look forward to Thursdays - I really, really like these girls, warm and good hearted, and a little crazy too. And I wouldn't have it any other way!!! I am so very grateful they opened their hearts and knitting bags and welcomed me. I'm learning much from them, and it's not just knitting... OK, I'm getting all mushy now... Ick. LOL

Wet, Wet, Wet

OK - Is it ever going to stop raining???

New Look
Sunday, October 09, 2005

I'm testing out a new look for my blog. I didn't like that the template I had was being used by so many other people. When I surfed, I would run into pages I thought were my own - and well, I can't have that. LOL
This one is pretty and bright - and I love the flowers (bright, strong flowers are a favorite of mine ...think Gerbera Daisy!) - but the colors are not very MOD... Oh well.
I've been thinking of starting a second blog about vintage knitting patterns, perhaps I will use this template for that and pick another one for here. (?)

I was notified today that I was added to the Knitting Fanlisting (YEA!) so I had better get to adding some knitting content! I've been a little lax on that lately... oops

Personality Quiz
Friday, October 07, 2005

Silly quiz - not too far off in some places, but really missed the boat on the last one - no regrets? Not likely. And unintelligent - HA! I take offense!! :)

Confusion
Dominant Personality: Confusion

Good Traits: You're curious and inquisitive.
You're always trying to learn new things, or
understand the old.

Bad Traits: Your questions can get annoying,
and you tend to be clingy. You think too much
about things and never get anything done.

People see you as: Unintelligent, annoying,
and clingy. Most likely these aren't true, but
your thrirst for knowledge can be a little too
enthusiastic. Sometimes you talk too fast, and
you even confuse others around you.

You're Most Like: Understanding. You're
taking in everything around you. The difference
is you're focusing on your own needs/desires,
and not others.

You Need More: Regret. You move too quickly,
and never look back on things. You have to
learn and grow from mistakes.

What's your dominant trait? (10 unique results)

Wheeeeee - Back online!

It was the modem itself - the tech was here for all of 5 minutes and it was done. I should have just gone to Cablevision and exchanged it myself... BUT, all's well that ends well.
I have some pics to post, but first a whole bunch of overdue surfing! Yea!

Modem Still Down

Down but not out - well, not exactly. Today, a tech is supposed to come to my home to repair the line or replace the modem. Whichever, he better not leave unless all is working properly!

Grrrrrrr....!!!!

Hopefully, my next post will be from my OWN COMPUTER!!!

@#$!$#@^!!! Cable Modem!
Tuesday, October 04, 2005

Well, I think the post title says it all. My modem is down and has been since last Friday. Cable will be comming to fix the problem THIS Friday (nothing like speedy service) but until then, I really have no Internet.

This post was made with a stolen moment at the office - LOL. I will try to steal more moments, but I can't promise anything.

Wow - I can hardly remember life before computers. Imagine having to pick up a phone to tell someone how your day is going.....
